Wow, this place ROCKS!!!
For a small venue, this place has one of the best sound systems I've heard.
The beer is cheap, drink specials everyday, cool staff, great music, what else could someone ask for - but I'm biased, I live 5 blocks away!

Awesome place, incredible soundsystem, they always have incredible music - pretty much every night of the week.
Much more than you'd expect from the outside.
Right next door to the Heartland Cafe, great dining, and you can get food in the Red Line Tap also.
Again, love the place!

The Red Line is too little known as a truly great live music bar in Chicago. The "dive bar" (in only the best way) atmosphere is akin to that of the Hideout, good beer is cheap, sound is decent, and the people are real and friendly.
Solid music and no cover during the week. 2.50 Berghoffs on Tuesdays with amazing bluegrass... C'mon, it just doesn't get any better! Luckily, I live close by, but it's well worth the trip up north.

The best bluegrass band plays every Tuesday night. They're called Sex Fist - ignore the seemingly out of place name! They rock...mandolin, dobro, fiddle, banjo, guitar. Old school bluegrass. Awesome!

THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING GOING ON AT THE RED LINE TAP. HAVE SUCH GREAT BARTENDERS ALSO, EXPECIALLY TARA. MAKE A TRIP IN THERE EVERY TIME I COME TO TOWN. GREAT BANDS ALSO.

The atmosphere here isn't much, but at 1am when other bars might close, this is as fine a place as any to drink until 2. Nothin' to get off the train for. . .
