Spring of `09 and still no sign of life or renovation at the Red Lion. Is it time to call it Doc?

The Red Lion is closed for renovations until Winter '08.

I wouldn't recommend going to this pub for a drink. The food took forever to get.

After reading the review on the red lion pub I and some friends on the recomendation went along and all I can say is it was absolutley terrible!!! Our drinks order was wrong not just once but twice and our food came to us over the space of one hour!! We were told that it was put into two seperate orders because there were so many........5 of us!!!!! And the food when it arrived was just as bad as the service.
All I can say is that if this is what people think is a good English pub they need to actually get themselves over to england.
It's the only English pub i have been to so far in the US where the beans aren't from England!!!!!!! Not to mention the horrible Cornish pastie. I can here hoping for a taste of England that i miss unfortunatley all i found was a poor American imitation

I moved to Chitown two years ago and only just now found the pub I can call "home". Colin is a godsend! He'll always take care of you and keep you up to snuff on your history. He's not only a WWI and WWII buff, but has a wealth of knowledge on the most amazing things. Last time I was there we ended up discussing 7th century Irish law. The atmosphere is a perfect haunt for the lazy academic or the brooding artist. Colin pours beautifully and always knows how to make you feel at home. Thanks Colin!!

Went to the Red Lion for the second time last Thursday. This time we were lucky enough to get Colin working.
I am a Brit, recently moved to Chicago, so this place makes me feel right at home.
Also, I am a big WW2 buff (although not an expert like Colin!) and LOVE to watch old WW2 movies. This place is GREAT to go and indulge myself. There is nothing better than sitting at the bar with a beer and a Cornish Pastie, talking about Colins Dad who took part in the real Great Escape, while watching the movie on the TV.
This place is so good, I would move to Lincoln Park just so I could get there more often.
Everyone is made to feel welcome here. A real gem.

Colin and Joe, I love you. And everyone else who works and drinks there. But especially you two. You've always taken care of me.

BEST fish and chips I've had in a VERY long time. Service was a little lacking, but with one bartender working the entire place, I can't complain. I was disappointed I didn't experience any ghostly things, considering it's one of the most "haunted" places in Chicago.

I do not live in Chicago, rather Toledo, Ohio, but I felt right at home at the Red Lion Pub when I visited last weekend. Colin immediately made me feel at home, and as a fellow history buff, I can't wait until I am back in Chicago and can talk history again over a pint with my new friend, Colin.

An excellant place to go and just talk.I don't think there is anything that Colin doesn't know about WW1 and WW2 history. All you have to do is mention his grandfather's war picture behing the bar and you can sit there all night talking history.Get yourself along for a pint.
