I love this Wonderful place... kick back and just enjoy the great music. We saw Pinetop Perkins and many more amazing artists here. The prices are extremely reasonable (they probably should go up but the owners are just too nice!). The owners ARE really nice and often are around to enjoy the music too. The crowd size varies but often it's just a little smaller than you'd expect which makes for a very comfortable atmosphere. Still a cool place to see and be seen!

I visited Mama Rosa's during a 4 weeks blues trip through a dozen states of the USA. Much nicer atmosphere than any other Chicago club, and I well remember the session I was invited to by Willie Davis and Brian Lupo. Rosa's Lounge is the place for blues lovers!

Seriously must get back to Rosa's, if not for the fine music and friendly vibes, then at least to snag another T-shirt. Gave mine away to the owners of an almost-as-friendly Blues bar in Tokyo (Bright Brown) to hang between photos of Muddy and Little W. All towns need clubs like these.

about 10 years ago, vaclav havel came to town and he told a friend he wanted to hear blues. the establishment wanted to snag him, traipse around the upper brow jazz scenes but his friend contacted me and i contacted rosa's and magic slim and arranged a gig at rosa's, havel and his traveling cabinet, his secret service guards, and a couple of my buddies, we played pool, listened to great blues, and left havel alone. he said later that he enyoyed the evening immensely. rosa's...

I visited Rosas'a few months ago on a brief visit to Chicago, town of my birth, my first visit since '68. I've been to clubs all over USA, Europe and elsewhere, and Rosa's is indeed about the friendliest club I've ever known. Generous musicians, attentive service, good vibes, and a real family feel in an unpretentious, warm and stimulating space. There's plenty other venues in Chi-town, sure, and I look forward to seeing 'em, but I will always go back to Rosa's for a down home feel.

Rosa's is the place for those of y'all who're sick of the North Side tourist traps.Small, friendly, loud,& the drinks are cheap.Rosa's regular Melvin Taylor is a must see.Man,can this cat can put a serious hurting on a guitar,OUCH!!!
I was just there recently to see ChiTown legend Jody Williams(played W/The Wolf, Bo Diddley, etc.)and had a great time. The neighborhoods a bit sketchy but it just adds to the ambience. It's a cheap cab ride from downtown and the bus stops practically at the door. Rosa's is the perfect medium ground between the often overpriced and very gentrified North Side scene & the much wilder, funky but admittedly sometimes dangerous joints on the West Side and down on the South Side.
