I have lived in the area for over 8 years and have never been to Russell's. Maybe I was there on a bad night (Saturday) but I was not impressed. Besides all the kids screaming, the ribs were dry and the sauce was so-so. I may try it again for one of the sandwiches, but not for the ribs.

The first time I had the pleasure of a russell's bbq sandwich, I was four years old, back in 1956. I have never found another one like it no matter where I go. I now live in Santa Barbara, and I would be brought to tears at the chance to enjoy another one of those amazing sandwiches, and a slab of ribs. We are going to visit Chicago next year for a family reunion, and I think that is an excuse to go to Russell's again.

We lived in Chicago's North Austin area from 1946 to 1962. Made our first visit to Russells in '46. In 1950, our infant son grabbed a handful of fries and we were hooked! and mad3 many weekly trips to R's after church on Sunday. Great Memories!

Our family has been patronizing Russell's for the past 45 years. We go to Kiddie Land and then go to Russell's for chicken and ribs. Our family thinks it is the best sauce we have ever eaten. By the way, no one mentions about the roll, its like a little surprise. I love the way it sort of sops of some of the sauce. My dad said he wants Russell's, so we are getting ready to go today.

I was born in Chicago and raised in southern California & my mom was born and raised in Chicago. On every visit to our family and friends in the area, as kid and through my teens, we always have made a special trip to Russell's. Russell's is a real TREAT! This is some phenominal barbecue in my opinion. Now, as an adult I rarely get out to Chicago... it's been awhile (10+ years) but every trip my mom takes I always ask for her to ship back a few bottles of that almost to die for barbecue sauce.

I've eaten Russell's BBQ beef for 3 decades and it is the best. Recently I started eating the BBQ chicken. I now have a real dilemma while standing in line to order.

I just talked to Russell's and they are NOT closing, as Pam's review said. Another place close by closed for the condos. I am definitely going back after many years of living away,

Back in 1984 I was in Rolling Meadows for an ADP seminar. I went to Russells for dinner and I was hooked. Ever since that day I have Russells BBQ sauce sent to me in Michigan, just outside of Detroit. I BBQ ribs and pork all year round. We go through a couple of cases a year. It's great!

On a recent trip to Chicago a cousin took me to Russel's. I've been looking for a pork bbq sandwich like that for years. Just like I enjoyed when I was young but could never find again. If I did not live two thousand miles away I would practically live there. Keep up the good work. Donald Slebir, M.D. Santa Cruz, CA

Russell's is great. too bad they are taking it down to put up codo's. This is a shame. Russell's is a land mark.
