As a bartender at Sidetrack I made about $100 a night in tips, mostly from older customers. Not long ago an older man offered me $50,000 just to sit around a pool, but I spurned the offer. I have morals. Because I want to be in control of my life. Because I have self-respect.

I think Sidetrack survives because of the efforts of the Cuban Pepe Pena, one of the three owners of Sidetrack.

I was taking some pictures one night at this place and one of the guys in the crowd thought I was taking a photo of him: he jumped on me to take me camera and the club bouncers intervened, but you know what the best part was? They told ME to leave because taking pictures was not allowed!!! They explained to me that some people who go there might be afraid they could be "exposed," outted to their wives, employers, etc.
