Strolled in at 1 pm Saturday with my daughter. We went with the Taste of the Daddy, baby backs with pulled brisket and pork, cole slaw and mac & cheese. The beef was tender and moist, the pork was easily some of the best around. Mac & cheese lived up to it's rep of being tremendous and the cilantro cole slaw was surprisingly tasty. So here's the weird thing. The ribs were excellently prepared, but for some reason they had a bit of a nauseatingly over-smoked flavor. Bizarre complaint I know, but I'll definately return and will probably try the ribs again. My guess is that the best bet will prove to be a pulled pork sandwich. On my visit, service was good, college football was on multiple easily viewable flat screens and I had an overall lovely time.

It's hard to find anything to say about Smoke Daddy. It's all the quality you'd get in the south, with none of the traveling. This place is in another world from its surroundings. Free from the yuppy vibes that permeate Wicker Park, this genuine hole in the wall serves the best barbecue I've had in Chicago. The music was very loud, but it seemed to fit nicely in this great mix of people. One stop on a Thursday night brought a biker couple, a group getting together after work, couples, and old friends. The atmosphere is great, and the ribs can't be beat. If you're looking for authentic barbecue, Smoke Daddy is the place to go.

I went to Smokedaddy's yesterday for the first time after finding it on centerstage. Its been over a year since Dave from Lakeview visited but things haven't changed. I stopped in with some friends early on just to grab some early dinner and the food was amazing. I had a pulled pork sandwhich and my friends had the ribs. I highly recommend the baked beans too, they are almost like a cross between baked beans and chili. Great kinda hole in the wall joint to visit, I'm excited to stop in late night sometime and see what its like when there is a band on.
