The best Indian buffet I have ever experienced; try the somosas, and the entrees will satisfy meat lovers and vegetarians alike. A great place for first-timers!

Not a formal dining place but cozy, but you will find food and dollar value beyond your expectation, Best selection for Vegetarians/Vegans We a group of friends go there like a ritual, once a twice a week and never disappointed. A hidden gem to be covered in Lakeview.

standard indian cuisine is a wonderful indian buffet, especially for the area and for not being on devon street. i like supporting small local family-owned businesses and this would be one of them.

also, i daydream about their rice pudding.

Bad service? Never! Our dirty plates are always taken away while we're refilling with our favorite...peas and cheese! OK, our only gripe is the emphasis on tipping...at a buffet? Although the interior may be a bit bland, it's a relaxing place to hide out for an hour during a stressful work day.

Yes the place is small and the service is mediocre, but the food is just too damn good and cheap! It's a buffet so you're not going to get the same service from an upscale resturant, it's Self Service people! And the owner at the corner counter might come off as rude, but he won't bite you. I don't even pay attention to him anyways, he's usually dozing off with his arms crossed ready for someone to pay and leave. LOL! Anyways, go there for the delicious cheap food and don't expect a high class service.

My friend and I have been coming to Standard India for over two years. We feel the food is great for the price. We've recieved good service each time from the nimble Indian waiter that runs around that place. It's when you go to the register to pay, the plump owner asks nothing about your experience there, etc, it's just "cash or credit?". So, great Punjabi food for good price, but as aptly named, Standard India is well, quite standard. Im going there in a few hours! -Neel.

Inexpensive (especially for the neighborhood) buffet, good place to tank up for a long evening. The butter chicken is quite tasty, the lamb vindaloo is suprisingly tender and the nan was fresh. Not the best Indian buffet I've ever eaten, but an excellent value.
