I used to be a regular here and I should know -- This place is a dump. If you don't have a reason to be there, don't bother. By the way, anyone who ever ran into Royko when he'd been drinking can tell you -- he was aprick. Some reporters still hang out here, but you wouldn't know them. The place is mainly filled with advertising people and tourists.

The Billy Goat is a great lunch spot or for a quick beer . Try the double cheeze burger and one of their special Billy Goat brews .This is not a 4 star restaurant what you see is what you get . But is a value after you look at other prices at Michigan Ave restaurants .

Over-rated. The food is nothing special, VERY thin mass produced meat patties with a huge piece of bread. Also, it is difficult to figure out which is worse, the prices or the service.
If you waste your money here, you will probably leave felling like you were cursed.

This PUB is one of the only true pubs left in Chicago. Tucked under the classy Michigan Avenue, this established Chicago Lankmark can hold it's own to any new pubs in the USA.
When you leaave the bright Michigan Avenue sunlite and decend into another world of the past you can just feel the Billy Goat following down the stairs.
Enter the dim subdued light under Michigan and Voila there she stands...just waiting for you.
As soon as you open the door and here...cheeze burger, fries (no fries...chips) Pepsi (NO Pepsi) Coke. You know that your arrived.
ENJOY...YOU MADE IT TO HEAVEN!

Iwas very disappointed, I expected a great cheeseburger and got crap. The meat was so thin and had no taste on a huge kaiser bun. Hey, if you are on a high carb diet, this is the place, bread, chips & soda. Don't forget to bring extra cash, it is pretty pricey.

I can't think of one time we have been in Chicago that we did not eat and have a good time at one of the Billy Goats . Sure do miss the one in Wrigleyville . Go cubbies...

Outstanding. I always go to Billy the Goat when I am in Chicago. We have noting like it in Europe.

A real slice of Chicago. I felt right at home my first time there. The house beers are pretty good. And there is a ton of history on the walls, including the original Billie Goat's head mounted on the wall above the bar. It's worth the search to find it.

They were liberal with their drinks. 1 1/2 shots per glass for half the price of other places. It's a hole in the wall, but we had a good time and good, cheap drinks.

Burgers are way overpriced (and then as cardboard). No ventilation. And the place stinks. Shamrock is better.
