    Poor food, miserable service.

When I complained about my food, the manager told me he was sorry I came to his restaurant with MY problems.

Business must be good if they can afford to treat customers this way.

Il est magnifique. This restaurant is the best ever. I love their croque monsieur with their pomme frits. Thanks to my french teacher Ms. Arbucle for taking me there twice. Bonjour. et Merci

Saturday afternoon. Looking for light sedation and a schnacky-schnacky-yum-yum. Mussels were **FABUUULOSE**. Those that didn't almost land on my sweetiekin's lap, of course. This was after the waitress took our wine and food order, neglected us for 20 minutes - well, it WAS 3:30pm on a Saturday afternoon with an empty restaurant - and returned to ask us if we wanted to order. (We gazed at her quizically, then quizically at ourselves, thinking we had gotten it wrong - only to realize we hadn't. Already, I was worried.) She returned with our drinks in dirty glasses - having asked us for our drink order a second time - of which we had to return ALL. She again mentioned something about our food order that led me to believe we would never see the salmon tart... At this point, with no one else in the joint and the two managers in rear booths by the restrooms - it was at this point that the mussels quite nearly met with my sweetie's lap. We changed tables, the waitress stopped by to neglect, entirely, the table change and accuse us of not ordering what we saw her write down on her wait-pad - the salmon tart that we never had the chance to taste. The specific lack of attention or concern on the part of the waitstaff, the hostess (who circled our table repeatedly refusing to make eye-contact) and management was at this point nearly humorous - not amusing, but humorous. Yet, again, the mussels were - tragically - quite wonderful. As was the wine - dirty glasses and all.

Fantastic. Great ambiance, friendly, courteous and efficient service and decent prices (for Gold Coast). We often just go for drinks at the really cool (and decidedly unpretentious) bar. Also, the brunch is magnifique, French Toast worth selling a sibling for.

BTW: (Mr. Dove et.al.) Don't expect a rushed typical American in&out experience or think it's like any of the other B.S. expense account eateries littering the G.C. Come to relax and be somewhere truly engaging.

This is a very nice option for people that live in the neighborhood. I suspect the bad reviews here are from people that came to Bistro Zinc expecting a "downtown experience" If you're from the suburbs, Wisconsin Iowa, etc. don't come to Bistro Zinc. You will be disappointed. If you're from the area I would reccomend BZ for an easy weekday dinner. The food is good, I've never needed a reservation and they have a nice wine list. Unfortunatly for those of us that live in the Gold Coast there are not to many casual dinign options that don't involve a 2 month reservation or a $20 bribe. BZ is one of the better of the few options available.

I've been several times, and service and food have always exhibited tremendous quality and attention to detail. The value is good, especially given the cuisine and the neighborhood.

I went to Bistrot Zinc with two friends on a Friday night. The atmosphere was great but the service and food were horrible! For $160 plus tip one would have expected an amazing meal however this wasnt so!First up the onion soup was just plain salty and no other flavour then our mains were terrible: the roast chicken bland, the duck dry and tasteless and for desert the creme brulee was uneventful and I've had better at a Chinese buffet restaurant! The only great dish was the escagot but it wasnt worth the trip. Save your money and go else where!

Went to Bistro Zinc on Saturday (4-25-2004). It was HORRIBLE!!! The restaurant was half full. After we were seated, no one came and asked to take a drink order, or food order. After 20 minuets we just waked out. We walked down the street to Luciano's. Much nicer environment and a friendly restaurant staff. I would highly recommend that diners DO NOT go to Bistro Zinc.
