Sushi is excellent here, but if you REALLY want to tantalize your tastebuds....order the Chicken Teriyaki. For appetizers: The sunomono & gomai are a must. BYOB & enjoy!

All I can do is echo what most others have said: no-frills presentation in a no-frills atmosphere. This is not a hipster restaurant: it's about food. It's basic and tasty, the portions are large, the prices are quite reasonable. If you want to eat expensive artwork, this isn't your place. If you want to eat food and you like sushi, check this place out.

This place not only blows all others in Chicago out of the water, but at such a great price it's unbeatable. I work for an airline and I often have sushi in Japan. In my opinion this is so very close to what is authentic, it uncanny. You can have your high priced exprimental sushi. Just give me Tokyo Marina any day!

Man, do I miss this place. Since I've been out in Scottsdale, Az the past few years, there are no good Japanese (Mexican or Chinese) restaurants out here. I really miss the tempura, beef terriyaki and sashimi combination 'a' plate. Doesn't seem that hard to do, but believe me, if you go to Phoenix you will miss Chicago's food!!!! (but not the weather).

Tokyo Marina is as close to authentic Japanese sushi as I've found in Chicago. Now it's not the best tasting, but there's a big difference in authenticity vs. the kind of unconventional combinations of flavors you might have in a more pretentious restaurant (Sushi Luxe down the street for example, also excellent but in a very different way!) Good food and great prices. If you'd like a little taste of Tokyo-style rathern than American-style sushi, I'd say definitely give it a shot!

I have to say it is a dis-service to liken Tokyo Marina to a cafeteria. When I went there the first time my first thought was, "Wow, sushi in a non-pretentious atmosphere." Tokyo Marina reminded me more of my favorite diner than anything. For that I love it and will eat there as often as I crave sushi.

Tokyo Marina is run by an elegant hard working individual, "Jimmy". He is frequently there, cleaning tables, picking up plates, watching from the kitchen door, coaching his 'Marina' trained Latino sushi chiefs. He is a delight and is the heart of Tokyo Marina. He cares - about his customers, the food that is served, and the quality of his guest's experience. Is there a lot of fluff? No! Is the food good to excellent? You bet! For more than a decade I have been bringing my children here - helping them to expand their palate and interest in food. And, learning about someone who takes pride in what he does - every day. When my now-in-the US Coast Guard son comes home to visit he knows where he wants to eat to celebrate. It is at Jimmy San's place. Thank you Jimmy!

I think Tokyo Marina is the best. I've never been to a high end sushi restaurant, so I can't compare, but for a first time sushi eater it was the best place to start. Good food and good prices.

I've been coming here for 10 years! Love this place for excellent priced sushi & generous portions.. You actually get to leave full and still have part of your wallet left.. Service is pretty no-frills, but courteous & nice.. Also offer other asian foods in addition to sushi, but definitely come for the sushi.. it's worth it! Carry-out is an excellent alternative on busy nights..

I love Tokyo Marina so much. My family and I go there almost every week to enjoy their sushi. It's very delicious and by far the best sushi I have ever tasted. It's convieniently located on Clark which is close to go shop or to spend a night on the town. It's great, tasteful, and affordable.
