The 3 kingdoms of Scandinavia are NORWAY, Denmark, and Sweden. Finland is a Nordic country but NOT SCANDINAVIAN. My Norwegian family would be shocked to hear that a restaurant reviewer in Chicago said they weren't Scandinavian and that Finland, though a nice place-but not Scandinavian, now was. How can you trust a review when it starts out not knowing what it is talking about?

I ate the breakfast at Tre Kronor, and along with the great atmosphere and good friends and a friendly staff, the experience was heart warming. I ate the breakfast pancakes, which were very much like crepes, served with lingonberry, and the combination was delicious. The waitress was courteous, explaining what everything was with a smile on her face. The worn hardwood floors and the cozy lights added to the warm experience.

Tre Kronor is a must for the Swedish aficionado.

My wife and I live in Albany Park just south of Tre Kroner. It is our saving grace.

We enjoy dinners together often...mostly the pork tenderloin and the chicken. But breakfast/brunch is my personal favorite. I make it there at least once a week (just me and my newspaper) for a relaxing late breakfast of rasberry danish and their Anders Hash and Eggs. I seriously use precious time off for this meal!

Its a BYOB as well, so dinners can be very, very reasonable for the quality dishes and efficient, non-intrusive service you will enjoy. A+

The Tre is owned by the nicest couple one could hope to find in the restaurant business and the kitchen staff is amazing.

Though I haven't been there in awhile, having moved many many miles away, I jealously remember the benedicts and wonder how other restaurants can't seem to make them as well. If you don't order one of the pastries you're only cheating yourself.

The dinners are amazing, the fish is always perfectly prepared and the dishes are consistantly creative without being showy. You will love this place for the food, you will remember it because Larry and Patty have made it one of the most pleasant places to hang your hat, sit down to a meal and conversation that you could hope to find.

Hello.... Tre Kronor restaurant. What can I say. I used to work at this restaurant during my stay in the city from january to february in 2002. Loved the food, the Oslo omelette and the salmon quiche. And if somebody could give me Larry or Pattys email adress, I would appreciate it. Best regards Eirik, Norway

A treasure! A co-worker who happens to be a native Norwegian and I stopped for dinner recently on the way to a meeting. I'd read about Tre Kronor, she'd not heard of it, but it exceeded all my expectations. Delicious food prepared with an artistic touch and polite, correct (in the best sense) service. Can't wait to return!

I used to work at this place, the atmosphere is wonderful, the food is fantastic. I've since moved from Chicago, and everytime I have a chance to stop in I do. I've not found a place to eat that can top Tre Kronor Restaurant.

You have to try their Rainbow Trout for dinner or one of their Quiches for lunch or breakfast.. MMMMM

Patty & Larry are wonderful to work with/for and when I get a chance to visit the resteraunt, they always make an appearance at my table. The Unique variety and freshness of the food can not be described. You need to experience for yourself. Tre Kronor has a one of a kind menu.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. The service is always superb and I know that they use the best ingredients in their cooking. You can tell by the results on your plate. On a Saturday morning, go for the smoked salmon eggs benedict. For dinner, try the pork tenderloin. It's to die for. Really--don't miss this one.

My wife and I drove an hour from the far Northwest suburbs to try this charming gem of a restaurant. Having been greeted with some of the most polite and genuinely hospitable service, we started off with a fruit/cheese appetizer, and then dove into the specials. Dessert and coffee were outstanding as well. The decor is simple, warm, and folksy, and the menu is right-sized (no overwhelming lists of boring American stand-bys here!) We are already looking forward to our next visit. What a treat.

Tre Kronor is absolutely fanatastic and very, very addictive. I got hooked when I lived about a block away, and now that I've moved I still make the trip to eat there often. Everything is great -- watch for Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict on the specials and Anders Hash & Eggs on the regular menu. All their quiches are fantastic, broccoli cheddar is a special treat. Most rave about the Danish pastries which are out of this world, but don't stop there! Breakfast lunch and dinner are all amazing. Owners Patty and Larry are delightful and often quite visible in the dining room, always ready to stop and chat with longtime regulars as well as newcomers.
