Parking is a Rip-Off says: On Friday 2/24/06 12:32 PM
If you forget to stamp your sticker, prepare to pay full-price for parking...$20 for me. I've tried contacting the parking service 3 times but they will not return my calls. The parking attendants were unhelpful too. This theater sucks!

Parking for a movie is $5 on peak days, $2 on off-peak days (with validation)
Gang Shooting at Webster AMC Theater! says: On Tuesday 10/11/05 2:47 PM
Excuse my headline, but that was the story I expected to read to when I opened up my newspaper this morning! I saw, "The Exorcist of Emily Rose," there last night and I am not sure if the movie, or the gang members seated around me, was more scary! I am not kidding - do not go here unless you want to waste your evening with "Tupac" and "Notorious B.I.G." seated in the back row! Even the security guards who I asked to come in a quiet these ghetto losers down were scared to tell them to be quiet in fear of being shot! On top of the terrible movie attendees, the parking garage mis-charged us $20 and refused to refund us our money! Terrible! Don't go here...ever...unless you have a death wish!!

This place is g-h-e-t-t-o. There are absolutely no rules at this theatre. We were in an R rated movie where about a family of 15 came to watch. Cell phones ringing throughout the movie and little kids crying. Also two loud couples that talked through the whole movie and actually walked around to chat with others during the movie between their dry humping. I thought we were in a zoo. Do not go here.

HORRIBLE WASTE OF MONEY. The clientelle at Webster Theater is total riff raff -- people that arrive late, stand in the aisles, don't apologize or ask to be excused, and then leave before the end to be the first to get out of the garage, blocking other patrons view as they squeeze out.
For about 20 minutes tonight, the light was on in the projector room, creating a huge, annoying glare on the screen. I could have had a better viewing experience at home. This theater is run by amateurs -- spend your money on Netflix instead.

It is true that this theatre is hard to get to on the "L". But, surprisingly, it is VERY easy to get to on METRA. All you have to do us take the METRA/UNION PACIFIC North or Northwest line to Clybourn Junction, walk about two blocks north on Ashland to Webster, then turn right and go about 1/3 mile east to the theatre. This is especially handy if coming from the Loop or the North or NW sides!

Webster Place must skimp on projector light bulbs! I saw Star Wars for the second time with my friend who hadn't seen it yet in Webster's theater 1. The movie wasn't bright enough, to the point where it was muddy and unclear. It had a look like you were watching it with sunglasses on. If the projector required, say a 100 watt bulb, it looked like there was a 30 watt in it. Even the scenes involving a bright sky were subdued, and the dark scenes, forget about it. You couldn't see Annakin's legs being cut off in one of the more critical scenes. I will very much avoid the theater for other visually important films, and stick to Century in Evanston, where I saw Star Wars in all it's visual clarity for the first time. Very unimpressed.

I totally agree with "Angry Patron". Too many tickets and too many kids. I've even seen people standing in the isles watching a movie, posing a possible danger in case of fire, or evacuation. Also, too many kids trying to buy, AND GETTING tickets to R-rated movies. Little kids kicking your seat, and watching stuff like violence and sex, which they shouldn't. What's going on with the management? Webster used to be a fine place to watch movies a few years ago, now I rather rent.

We just went to see The Passion of the Christ.
It was hard to enjoy the movie because Webster Place had sold so many tickets to underage kids. This is an R-rated movie and there was about five or six girls around the age of twelve sitting in front of us. They had no business being in there watching such a violent movie.
Whoever polices movie theaters should keep an eye on Webster Place. I complained to the manager, and she told me that adults must have bought the tickets for the kids. She was lying. I watched those girls buy their tickets themselves.

I was in 7th grade when Webster Place was built. It was the first big theatre not located downtown or on the outskirts of the city. It was once clean and new. It's getting pretty run down, but I still think it's a perfectly fine place to see a movie. No harsh complaints.
