We went to 1776 because we could get a discount with an entertainment card. I've lived in Crystal Lake for 6 yrs and never ate there. I just had a baby and thought my mother and I could get something to eat. When I walked in ,and thought oops!probally shouldn't have brought the baby.It was so nice and elegant.The manager (I believe) was so nice and told us where we could put the baby down until our table was ready.The hostess brought us to our table and made it feel so inviting even for my little baby.To my surprise the food was incredible.The butt steak melted in our mouths and the vegetables were exellent. The waitress came by and offered us dessert and we had Key Lime pie. It was delicious! Some anonymous person we were told bought us our dinner.Wow! I just couldn't believe not only did someone buy our meal,but the staff was so kind,and the food was so good.Please take this recommendation to heart.It's not just the food, it's also the staff who are just genuinely nice.This is a five star restaurant in our book.

Menu covers all ideas. Serve staff average+. Drinks good. Wine excellent. Chicago prices. Entertained guests on second visit. Will go again when in area.

Loved it! For a unique evening of wonderful food in an intimate setting, give this a try! We were lucky enough to be their for their Louis & Clark 200 Anniversary tappas feast and all we can say is WOW! The food presentation is beautiful, and we've never had anything we didn't like, even when trying something brand new. Many presentations are innovative and creative takes on traditional or even antique recipes, and the result is fantastic!
No connoisseur of the "Best of the Best" in Chicago has completed his adventures without a visit to 1776.
