I felt a little like I was on a cruise, a little like I was on Dancing With The Stars, and a lot like I was back in the '40s dancing to some great band music. The crowd tends to be of retirement age, but there were people of every age group. I highly recommend it for Baby Boomers like me. As a single, I found people were friendly, and I noticed married couples were enjoying themselves too, as dancing is such a pleasant activity.

The play was uplifting and bright. The music was ageless and timeless. THe dancing was fun to watch and the actors really seemed to be enjoying themselves. I recomend it to all play lovers. A joy to see !!

Tributosaurus, the first Wednesday of every month, at Martyrs on Lincoln, becomes a different band. Usually a "dinosaur" band. Get it? Most recently The Kinks. They'll play 15 songs, faithful to the album, using as many musicians as needed to duplicate the song. In recent months, you would have seen a cello player from CSO, the drummer from Umphreys McGee and Steve Frisbee. 2 shows, the suburban set at 7pm, and 10:30pm for hipsters. $15 cover, they seem to have a lot of fun doing it, and they do it very well. Bonus: The leader singer hates the Eagles.

I have enjoyed dances at Willowbrook for quite some time. The Good Time Charlies dances are usually twice per month. I would say there are more like an average of 400 there. And, there is always someone to dance with. I think there is a fairly even mix of men and women there. Put down your drinks and dance with them guys. Dress code is a nice thing. I would much rather dance with a lady dressed like one instead of a construction worker. Keep the code Charlie. No T shirts for guys either is good.

Just wonderful. Went for the Presidents day dance. I loved it. I think the no jeans policy is great. People look classy and are having fun. An experience I would hope to repeat. Well worth the drive.

On Thursday, I decided to get a babysitter and go dancing with a friend at the Williowbrook Ballroom. Do you all now how difficult that was? When I got there, I was TURNED AWAY because I was wearing JEANS. Come on people.. get with the program - year 2006 here! Jeans are totally envogue, especially to go dancing. So, be warned!!! Do not drive out of your way to get there if you are wearing jeans.

PS - If you are going to turn people down, you should make sure that the person doing that job looks a bit better dressed than that person wearing the jeans.

The comment about strict dress code is incorrect. At least for swing lessons. Up from jeans is OK.

Every other Friday, Good Time Charlies has a singles dance with about 200 or more people. Women are going to have real problem though - too many men - not enough time.
