Xippo is a refreshing change from yuppi/college joints and pubs that dominate the north side bar scene. Euro look, beautiful bar, and a fairly priced wine list make this somewhat cocktail-loungish. And that's a good thing. As a plus -- if your timing is right, a super nice bartender is Tijana from Serbia.

A group of my friends have been meeting bi-weekly at restaurants corresponding to letters of the alphabets (we're dorks, I know). This week was "X", and with not many options available to us, we went with Xippo. NEVER AGAIN. I'm not usually one to not be willing to give a place a second chance, but our experience was truly awful.
We went at about 7:30 on a Thursday night; the place was empty except for 3 people who appeared to be the owner/friends of the owner. That should have been our first hint.
While we were a group of 8, I'm thinking we should have been manageable due to the lack of other customers. We waited forever for the food, and when it was finally brought out to us, it was cold...which you think since they brought it out one plate at a time (with painfully long breaks between plates) that it would have at least been warm. My husband's mini burgers came out with swiss cheese even though he wanted no cheese, another request for no pickles went unheeded, and one club sandwich came out looking like it went through a war zone with no bacon. While the waitress was apologetic, she didn't really go out of her way to make up for any of the mistakes. Beers were expensive, and the food for the portions and the quality was also overpriced. Thursday nights were $6 martinis, and I'll admit that was well made. Perhaps that is what is keeping this place in business, because the service and the food certainly are not.

Xippo is a great spot. Food is delicious. Tuesdays are the night to check it out. Great HOUSE DJs~
Highly suggest checking it out for yourself. You wont be disapointed!

Xippos has a great layed back atmosphere with DJs almost every night of the week after 10, I believe. i went there last Sunday and they even had live bands perfomring! It was great.

Xippo is fantastic. The guys who take care of the place on a day to day basis are extremely nice and funny. The food is excellent. The atmosphere is great. I love the lighting and the way these guys take care of this bar. Very good place for a glass of wine and a bite to eat. Good selection of alocohol as well. Just tell them BabyJ sent ya!

This place is very quaint, cool and relaxing. The people are great and the food comes very well prepared. The neighborhood is mostly residential houses with a few apartment complexes so parking is not a hassle at all unlike most (hell, all really!) of the Bucktown and Wrigleyville joints. If you want to relax and talk without having to incessantly raise your voice over an obnoxiously loud sound system then, this lounge is your ticket to chillout nirvana.
