Jin ju is one of our favorites. We live in the area so it very convenient having a fancy Korean restaurant here. The food is top quality, simply fantastic and you don't even have to cook it yourself. The ambiance is great and so is the service. The weekends get a bit noisy so don't go there if you want a quite romantic dinner.

I thought the food was good, however it was so dark we had to ask for an extra candle to read the menu, it was so noisy it was difficult to communicate, and the waiter was very friendly - but on the pretentious side. I recommended to my friends who have never had Korean food before to try the Bi Bim Bob as it is something most people would enjoy when he proceeded to lecture us that ordering that is like going into a fancy Italian restaurant and ordering spaghetti and meat balls. I did not think his comments were helpful or very nice. I enjoyed the food, but there is much better Korean available on Kedzie or Lawrence.

We loved Jin Ju, on a late Sunday night, it was a welcome, relaxing, and stylish spot to have a good meal, although, the prices were higher than some place that I would frequent often. We found the staff to be friendly and not at all pushy [with the drinks]. I cannot say that I know how ‘authentic’ the food was, but since it was quite good, I’m not sure that I care either.

It always amazes me how restaurants often enjoy success based on the image they project. This is the case with Jin Ju. I read all of these great reviews, but in reality the food was just "fine" - nothing we couldn't have made at home. Furthermore, we were there early and the host was so self-absorbed that he stood next to us ignoring us - not even offering a drink. The waiter was affable, but I almost laughed in his face when he claimed he was bringing us a "little Seoul".

Jin Ju is one of my favorite restaurants! The food is delicious, well-prepared, and the portions are just right! The staff is excellent (esecially Shane -- he is a total hoot, yet efficient and professional). The decor is simple, yet lovely. The drinks are great as well! I don't mind paying $8 for a martini as long as the quality and quantity are on the higher end of the scale (Jin Ju does not disappoint in this area). It's just a great place -- I highly recommend it!

I had been to Jin Ju about a year ago. I thought the food was fine, not great, but nothing to bring me back. They really push the drinks, which considering I don't drink, does not make me popular with the waitstaff...because they will not be racking up many martinis on my bill. I have been in the restaurant business for 25 years..I know how it works...money is made on drinks.... Sat night 5/14, my Korean friend said we should try it again... we id not have a reservation, but upon entering, I approached the hostess, who was very pleasant and had a big smile. She said it would be about 5 minutes, which was great... We sat on a bench near the window and looked over the menu. Upon looking around, every waiter that passed by had the most unfriendly , scowling look on their faces. At one point, one waiter approached and asked if we would like a drink while we waited. Since we were going to sit at our table any minute, my friend and I declined. Without a word, he rolled his eyes and turned around.... My friend said..." What was that all about ? " " Lets leave " I do not believe in " 3 strikes , your'e out "...Jin Ju had 2 chances and blew it one I much prefer Koryo on Broadway or any of the other Lorean restaurants on Lincoln or Bryn Mawr If u want so called hip and trendy with smug waiters...Jin Ju is your place !

Jin Ju is more than great food and fabulous cocktails: it's hip, easy-going, trendy, and the price is right. The Ooh-la-la waiting staff alone is worth a visit! I entertain a lot with people from out-of-town and overseas, and Jin Ju is always a hit.

I think the food is overpriced. I would recommend going to the more authentic Korean restaurants on Lawrence or Lincoln Avenue. Not only do I think one will be get better food at other Korean restaruants, but they will also spend a lot less.

I love this restaurant! If you're looking for a cool place for great Korean food, this is the place to go with either friends or on a date. The atmosphere is hip, and the service is great! Only drawback: no valet parking and parking on the street can be hard to find...

Compared to other, mom & pop Korean places, this is hip and upscale...a dime a dozen in California or NYC, but a rare find here in Chicago. They do a great job of preserving the basic tastes of traditional Korean food but still making it accessible to "round-eyes." Plus, the wait staff speak English. In fact, they're all non-Korean and I don't think they speak Korean!
