I'm planning a another trip from Pittsburgh to Chicago because of this fab pancake joint! I can't wait!

My wife and I recently visited Chicago and we had one of the best breakfasts we have ever had at the Bongo Room. I am an eggs, potato and sausage guy (boring I know), but I have to say these menu items were excellent at the Bongo Room. My wife however had the Neapolitan pancakes and I was amazed at the favor and texture of the pancakes and sauce. The pancakes came covered with a Neapolitan sauce however the sauce never made the pancake soggy. After I finished my breakfast, I had to take a bite of my wife’s pancakes and they were incredible. How do they make the pancake so perfect that they do not get soggy? On top of the great food, the atmosphere was cool, modern yet warm (and nice IKEA look). We ate breakfast at some famous joint the following day and that was like a low budget Denny’s and we wished we had gone back to the Bongo Room. If you get to Chicago and you have time for breakfast, the Bongo Room is a definite must see!

Bongo Room is the kind of place where you want to become a regular. Atmosphere: comfortable and friendly. Food: fresh, delicious and innovative. Great coffee. What more do you need to know?

I love breakfast places and I had heard so many positive things about Bongo Room, that I was certain I was going to be dissapointed. My experience was quite the opposite, I was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. First, the pancakes, we ordered two plates as appetizers for the table, they were excellent! Highly recommend the Banana-Heath Bar pancakes! Then for my main breakfast course, I ordered Eggs Bendict which was just right. Service was very nice, although the place does get very packed. If you're not there right when it opens, be prepared to wait. But it is definitely worth it.

Great palce. The pancakes are the best I've ever had. Here's a tip if you want to sample the array of different pancakes but don't generally order anything that sweet for a meal: order just one pancake as an appetizer or a dessert.

You can always expect a wait after 9:30 or so, but it's completely worth it. Bongo Room is really something special. The pancakes are exceptional, although I can't finish three of them, and I'm a big eater. Fortunately, you can order single pancakes and mix and match them with some less sweet breakfast fare (suggestion: Red pepper and feta benedict.)

I love this place! Very hip, trendy. There is always a wait, for breakfast, which tells me that there is something golden here. Love the pancakes. Cool decorations. Best breakfast in Chicago.

I've eaten there 3 times. The first and third times were absolutely what breakfast should be made of: heath bar pancakes, with decent coffee, and friendly waitstaff. The second time there almost made me vow to never walk back in there again: AVOID THE LUNCH MENU -- "grilled" chicken sandwich was really a Boiled Chicken sandwich, and the waitress was a pure bitch, to put it nicely.
Stick with the pancakes, and you'll be fine -- anything else, Good Luck!

I thought the restaurant was fantastic. It's the best breakfast I've ever eaten, hands down. Go there and enjoy it yourself - and try the pancakes!
