I had heard good things and wasn't disappointed. Sultan's Market is delicious food at a reasonable price. Be careful, though to count your change, we were shorted like other reviewers.

The food is good, but the staff are not cool. I have been short handed too, and they are EXTREMELY rude. If they don't like you they will do stuff to your food......

The food at sultan's market is good and cheap but don't let the food charm your eyes from your wallet. Use small bills and make sure you count your change. Once might have been a mistake, but three times then it's shortchanging. Go for the food but watch your wallet.

The food is outstanding, no question, but I think the store policy of not accepting any credit cards is just, quite simply, annoying and disrespectful to the patrons. The average price for lunch without a beverage is probably around $7 or $8 per person, so why not just go with the flow, like every other restaurant and customer service-oriented establishment around, and bite the old bullet, and just accept plastic? I realize you will lose 2%, but wouldn't you rather have the increase in actual sales? Or is saving 2% so important you'd rather forego an entire transaction? I really wish my wife didn't like the falafel as much as she does; if it were up to me, I'd never spend another (cash) dollar in there again.

I was a big fan, and a regular customer, until I found a large piece of meat in my rice. I am a vegan. When I told the guys working, they didn't apologize or seem concerned at all. If you are strict vegan, don't eat at Sultan's. They are just not that careful between the meat and vegan food.

without question, the best falafel possible. it's a must to go "spicy" with the chili paste... which along with the added cucumber salad and hummus, gives their version a unique twist over more traditional recipes. also great daily dishes, soups, sides and salad bar. reasonable prices, too. a great asset to wicker park and bucktown.
