Part II Part II As far as the actual dining experience, it was just ok. Our chef was knowledgeable and it was interesting to watch him disect the fish after sedating it with an epidural. I'm not sure he would do this on a busy night, we had to ask to watch, and it was dead quiet in the restaurant. So, back at the table, the dining experience lasts like 3.5 hours. the courses are SLOOOW to arrive. By the time the entreee arrives you are so ready to leave and it is anti-climatic. The portions are way too small. By the time I got back to my hotel that evening, I ordered and consumed a large pizza - I was absolutely starving (I am an average weight person too). The flavors were interesting and a mix of sweet and salty, not a lot of variety in fish types though - I suspect this has to do with what is available fresh locally, in a coastal venue, you would definitely have greater selection. Presentation was very good in terms of accoutrements and arrangement.

Part I
Some elements of my visit were nice, and when considered individually they were OK. For example...ambience was suitable. The decor is fresh, modern, and you know you are somewhere nice. The fish tanks were a letdown in particular. I was expecting an eye level extravaganza of unique and varied fish - get this, there were 2 fish in the tank, and they were common fish like Tilapia. Oh yeah, the tank was below the sushi counter/bar. Whoever designed the tank probably forgot that fish in a strange surrounding might get scared and try to hide. It is a small dining area, which undoubtedly limited tank placement options.

We shared a variety of sushi among our table and everything was absolutely delightful. We especially loved the "live" fish that was served in two courses. The desserts and saki were supreme as well as the entourage of wait staff. A total great experience. Most of us were novices at Japanese cuissine but the connoissuer among us was equally impressed.
