This place is a true pastry shop, not a run-of-the-mill bakery that sells cupcakes made with overly sweet Crisco frosting. If you appreciate what true French pastry is supposed to taste like (flavors other than just SWEET) come to Vanille. Everything here is truly special and something you'd be proud to serve to family or guests...or simply devour yourself on the street! :) Warning: this place is a bit expensive ($11.00 on their website for a vanilla poundcake loaf? $13.50 for 15 little pieces of caramel in a plastic bag? are they kidding?).

We discovered Vanille a few years ago when we were selecting a wedding cake. Our guests are still talking about our cake to this day! And every cake we've ordered since that time has been a rare and delicious treat. This is by far the best patisserie in Chicago.
