This may be one of the best experiences I've had in a very very long time.

I had been here a few years back, and I remembered very little about it, but I will remember The Tasting Room now!!!

First of all the room is beautiful...dark & sexy with a warm candlelit glow. A Beautiful view of the chicago sky line...and our server wasn't too hard on the eyes either....wink.

I'm a bit of a wine nerd I know, but I was blown away by the wine list they seemed to have hundreds of wines (had to be over 500) and offered them all by the glass or if you'd like they offer everything by the 'taste'. The main thing that impressed me though with the wine list wasn't the amount of wines, or even the myriad of eclectic bottles, (we've all seen that)...it was the prices...Webster's, Bin 36, Avec....There is no one in the city with wine prices like these...it seemed every glass of wine I had was 3 or four buck cheaper than the other guy. I know three or four buck isn't much, but trust me, it adds up!

I've been to the Tasting Room about five times now, spread out over the course of two years. I keep trying the place, thinking that the lousy service and mediocre wine I am getting is a fluke - hey, the place is rated highly on CitySearch, and people keep recommending it. But last time was the last straw. My boyfriend and I received horrible service. I don't suppose being a May-December, interracial couple helps, but wow. Do they actually dislike us? As a somewhat-knowledgeable wine-lover myself, I can't understand why the servers have no interest in what they are serving. Shouldn't they at least pretend to care?

I had the most awful experience with the management of this restaurant. I'd never been treated so rudely before, especially after spending the kind of money that I did. Having worked in food service for plenty of years, I know that this is NOT the way to treat customers. With so many other amazing choices for wine bars in Chicago, there is absolutely no reason come here, ever.

I definitely will not go back to this place considering all the more notable wine bars that have popped up recently. The appetizers were nothing special and way overpriced. The wine selection was decent but overpriced for our 'half off' bottles night. The main disappointment was management. Server was ok but manager was an unfriendly witch! We will never go back and we will also advise our friends and colleagues not to return.

This place has a nice atmosphere and good hosts, especially if you sit upstairs. However, the wine and liquor we ordered were, as other reviewers have said, definetly not above average. I ordered a flight of gin and one of the gins was Bombay Sapphire! Come on! I was starving when I got there and wanted to put in an appetizer order first, and the waitress just flat out told me 'No.' She recommended a desert wine after we described what we wanted, but what she brought was way off the mark and when we told her so she just walked away again. She was terrible and I wanted to reflect that in the tip, but of course since we were a party of six they grat'd us 20%. Whatever. If you're looking for good wine and good service, head somewhere else.

Five friends and I attended the New Years Eve party at the Tasting Room for $175 per couple. It looked very nice, but the hors d'oeuvres were lackluster, the piped-in music inaudible, and the three available champagnes awful. I asked if I could purchase a bottle of decent champagne, but the staff member whom I asked replied, "Not tonight." We just weren't enjoying this lame situation, so despite the $525 we'd wasted on the event, we left the Tasting Room for the Conrad Hotel Bar at 10:45 PM.

At the Conrad we found a live band, terrific food and a selection of great champagnes. I'm really glad we left the lame scene at the Tasting Room.

I emailed the Tasting Room about our disappointment, but of course no one from there has troubled to reply.

My favorite place to enjoy wine and food with friends. The wines are amazing as the staff is the most knowledgable in the city. We buy wines to take home (they have a great store that the bartenders will open for you late at night). Ask any one in the wine business this is where they hang out!

Went to the Tasting Room after dinner last evening. While the upstairs two rooms are spacious and cozy, the wine selection is definitely not 'amazing' as the prior reviewer suggests. We tasted a flight of pinots and a flight of dessert wines. While the wines were served at correct temperatures, the quality of the wines left something to be desired. Only 1 of the 3 pinots offered any compelling flavor and only 1 of the dessert wines was above the level of swill. If you're looking for an opportunity to hang out, this is a great place. If you're looking for taste even above average wines, this is more certainly not the place.

Spacious! We went to Tasting Room after a cramped dining experience and found it a breath of fresh air. Wide selection of wine flights and night caps, coupled with an excellent desert menu cause this place to rock. We recommend the chocolate fondue. A must!

I absolutely love this place. The wine selection is amazing and the owners knowledgeable and friendly. Definately going back!
