Service was lousy. Food was very mediocre. Since new ownership has taken over, the enitire experience has deterioated. It is poorly managed and is lving off the name they created form the great meals they had from the 70's o the 90's.

When it says veggie-friendly, be aware that that does NOT mean vegan-friendly! You'll be stuck with lettuce and french fries.
The service is hit or miss, depending on your server. There's a couple really great ones, and a couple lousy ones.

Mellow Yellow is horrible! I've been there twice in the past year, and both times my food was basically not even worth eating. It might just be their mexican style dishes, but it was horrid.

This restaurant is okay if you stick with the crepes. Overall, okay food and terrible service.

The Mellow Yellow is fantastic! There are few things that I really want to rave about in this world, but this restaurant is one of them! A jewel hidden in the hussle and bussle of the Southside of Chicago, this restaurant invites you with a warm, rich ambience replete with colorful tablecloths and linens to enchanting decor that screams its connection the jazz.
Panache is the only word that can describe this establishment. The menu here is something out of the divine with a blend of soul food and latin influence, this plays offers the kind of venue where you can order a mixed drink with your breakfast (try the orange juice and coconut milk). The service is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed and automatically puts you at ease for a magnificent dining experience.
