what is with all this talk about wireless? i go to a coffee shop to get away from the hustle and bustle. it is annoying to see people working when i am trying to relax. please, no cell phones either. if you can afford a $5 cup of coffee, spring for internet at home.
only negative here is "open-mike" night, makes it harder to talk with friends.

I like this place. A friendly staff and a nice, warm environment. Some have complained about the tables and their utility for setting up a laptop or notebook, but all you need is a magazine or legal pad to lay your laptop on and you're fine. I'm tired of the corporate shops that seem to nickel and dime us for everything these days. All in all a great experience and one that should not be missed when you have a chance to stop in.

I guess the previous reviewer came on a bad day, or myabe he had laptop issues? I'm sitting in Savor right now, and was compelled to write this review. The internet connection is "very good" according to my wireless card. I'm at a stable table and sipping a nice hot coffee.
I love this place, and I come here three or four times a week. I'd be here every day if I could.
Great coffee, delicious ice cream, tasty tea, free internet, good music, and the friendliest barristas in Chicago. What more could you ask for?
Open mic nights, you say? They have those too, and some great local musicians as well.

Well, "im sitting here right now. The wi-Fi signal is pretty weak, and so its sort of a wasted trip for me. The patio tables indoors don't make for a very stable typing surface either. Light and not too loud, which is good, but I don't think its everything everyone is raving about.

The coffee is good, the Internet is free, and the owner and staff are friendly. I sit for hours while drinking coffee or tea, while surfing / working on the web. Also there are plenty of outlets for computers. I always bring a power strip just in case the outlets are full. The most important thing to me is free wifi. I will walk a mile out of the way to go to Savor the Flavor. I live near another "chain" with free wifi, but there are few power outlets available, and my laptop battery only lasts a lousey 30 mins! Savor the flavor rocks and long live Free wifi!!

STF has wonderful customer service. They all know what I order and what mug I like it in. Pour out your starbucks and savor the flavor.

Even though I stopped drinking coffee years ago, I still like stopping into cafes for milkshakes, mineral waters, and club sodas. STF measures up. Jerry hands out the best milkshakes in town, and it's strange how they make the owner handle all the customer service. It won't take you long to sniff out the place as extremely friendly. It's location and decor make it attractive as well- right across from a park and bright and airy in the afternoons. The blue-green pastel paintings give the place an artistic flourish. Lots of lawyers with laptops and students who muse over their java. The furniture is comfy as you wade through the newspapers. There's no doubt that 'java-craft' is being practised here. You may not stir the shark-bowl, but you'll find out what the ambience is about.

I have been going to coffeehouses and tea shops for quite some time during my stays in Utah, Arizona, and Illinois. I have to say that Savor the Flavor is by far one of the friendliest cafe's i've visited. I've been a solid customer for a few months now and have yet to have an uneventful visit. All of the staff are outgoing yet non-intrusive. Each has their own personality which compliments the unique nature of the place. Geri, the owner, is definitely not a behind-the-scenes partner; she is constantly interacting with the customers and getting their opinions/feedback on how to improve the environment. They've recently renovated a small section in the front of the store to allow increased accessibility for live shows, which literally pack the cafe when scheduled. Another wonderful aspect of this cafe is that it combines two wonderful creations, Ice Cream and Coffee/Tea. I've personally sampled a few of the flavors, which are Homer's brand, and I have to say that they are wonderful! If you're looking for a personal, easy-going place to enjoy your coffee, read a newspaper or perhaps get some work done, Savor the Flavor is definitely the place to be. There are multiple tables, great lighting, a couch, and free wireless internet with plenty of spots to plug your laptop into an outlet. So, if you want a smile with your coffee, stop in to Savor the Flavor, you really won't regret it.I can't wait for the weather to warm up a bit, they have an outside seating arrangement!

I consider myself a café aficionado, having spent a lot of time both in front and behind the counter of a wide variety of coffee joints over the years. Now I find myself in business school and consequently unable to do anything short of analyzing every facet of every business, product and service I come across – at least just long enough to figure out whether I want Splenda or the real deal. But enough about my credibility, this is about Savor the Flavor, their wonderful staff, fantastic owner, and most importantly their unique offering (sometimes called the “value proposition”) – personalized service and attention to detail. Ours is a cluttered marketplace; we are inundated with marketing messages from all physical and psychic angles, though some of us are still sentient enough to distinguish the real thing. In any competitive business, aerospace, air travel, or coffee slinging, consumers expect the product to be at least good, and most are or they go out of business. Though what parts the waters and separates the special businesses from the swarming masses is that one unique quality, one in which the proprietor continues to invest, one that can’t be replicated. Well, in the world of cafés, it’s that home away from home (Starbucks tried to call it “The third place to be,” though they missed the mark). It is a genuine interest in the customer, their needs and preferences, and their comfort. Only Savor the Flavor offers all three and a few extras to boot.
