Alice and Friends is my favorite vegetarian restaurant EVER! The atmosphere is charming, the service is decent, and the food does not disappoint. If I could eat their donkatsu and fried dumplings every day, I would be a very happy lady.

This is my favorite restaurant in Chicago, and I'm not even a vegetarian! I rate this much higher than Zen Palette (a gourmet New York vegetarian restaurant). The food and the prices are outstanding.

This is a little gem of a place in Edgewater that everyone should visit - vegetarians and meat-eaters, too. The un-chicken and un-beef dishes are so good, I am never afraid to bring my non-vegetarian friends here. Beware, they are closed on Sundays!

I love alice and friends! I always get Love Letter fromt he Earth, it makes a gret lightmeal or good salad to share with the table -its filled with sweet potato, apple, avacado, walnuts, olives, sprouts, lettuce (obviously) and a sweet green dressing. Other favorites are the un-duck - my meat loving BF loves it- and the bbq un-beef very moist and flavorful.

We all know the place is simply amazing and tasty, but can someone post a damn on-line menu, so we can see what they have and how awesome everything looks, then just what people say about it!

Been a veggie for about 15years not. This food is kiss the heavens delicious! Usually order one of a few dishes (creature of habbit). But, for the most part, if I venture into new territory on the menu I am not disappointed. Love this place because most places that offer veggetarian options cook the veggie items on the same grill with regular meat. As a vegan this is not acceptable. If i don't eat meat why would I want the juices from their meat mingling with my "meat"?? In short, it's nice to have good, pure veggie food with flavor instead of some after thought added to a 'regular' menu just to pull in more patrons.

There is, indeed, something about walking into a restaurant that looks like a bakery with a bit more pizazz, and sit down at a hand-tiled table top, while sipping on tea to warm the winter out of my bones that makes this kind of city-eating more "home" and less "out." That doesn't even address the great flavors that surrounded the meal I had at Alice and Friends. The unChicken, I at first eyed warily, but with one bite I was succumbed to its flavor... and with a plate full of the Winter Special, I got my veggie fix for the day (and still got full). Although many items on the menu bring up home-style meat'n potatoes kind of cooking, I would say that overall, this is purely good, lovingly-made veggie fare.

I've only been the Alice and Friends twice, but the food left a good enough impression on me that I can't wait to return. On a weeknight, the menu is amazing: the Almond UnChicken is delicious, the ladyfingers and steamed dumplings are both the die for, and the kebabs are out of this world. Last time we were there we made the mistake of going on a Saturday. For some reason they only offer 6 or 7 items on what I think would be their busiest night.

Another thing to make note of (that my dad was quite ticked off about), is unlike most vegetarian restuarants where they'll gladly change things about your order (add this, leave this off, less sauce, etc.), our waitress wouldn't let us modify our meals at all. This wouldn't be such a big deal except my dad has health problems (which is why he loves vegetarian food so much) and can't have a lot of sodium. He asked if they could leave some soy sauce off one of the dishes. His answer was a very unapologetic 'no'. This might have just been our waitress (I think she's the only American one) but soemthing to be aware of.

Now that I think about it beware of the American waitress. She took our order three times and still forgot our appetizers, and when we asked about them she got snippy and told us "Well you should have asked for them before!". She also failed to give us correct change (the bill was $48.something, we gave her $100, she gave us back $50). It's not a big deal, but it just struck all of us as very unprofessional.

This is probably my favorite restaurant in the city for casual dining. The restaurant is small and cozy, decorated in a very colorful fashion, with lots of quotes from their spiritual teacher. The food is simply astounding vegetarian fare. First, there are wonderful appetizers, including the BBQ unchicken drumstick. As for salad, I can't get enough of Love Letter From the Earth, a sweet and refreshing salad with apples, beets, nuts and a wonderful sweet dressing. For the main course, you can't go wrong with anything. The Korean BBQ has to be my favorite, though the almond unchicken is great as well. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is very laid back. It can get crowded on some nights, so keep that in mind. I can't get enough of Alice and Friends, and I keep bringing my own friends there, vegetarian and nonvegetarian alike.
