The food was good.. LONG STORY SHORT; I paid $28 for rice beans, lettuce and guacamole (all of which added up to a typical sized entree).. I ordered to avoid dairy and gluten allergens, and got stuck with side order charges out the wazoo for every little thing (while the person I was with paid $11.xx for an entree).. The manager didnt think it was odd at all saying the the average ticket is $25 (really out of touch, or they dont want vegetarians there).. I didnt order drinks, etc (basically rice and beans).. Take away the 7.50 guacamole from my order, and it was still $20.. If you eat here, you had better be loaded (and not care about being overcharged as well), or order something right from the menu (no changes or extras).. The $28 ticket might not have been so out there if it were not for the dollaring me to death with $2 for a little 1.25 inch side of jalapeno, and another buck for the same size green sauce (all of which.. which one would think would come std with an entree.. The chair was hard flat wood..

de cero is case study in "good idea, bad execution." First of all the dining furniture is flimsy. One feels like they are eating in an old wood shop classroom. de cero should be applauded for its new and fresh take on tacos, but liked many ethnic cuisines that get co-opted and commercialized by Westerners, everything is smaller and pricier. As if we don't exploit Mexicans enough, de cero has learned to make expensive, petite tacos. And while the drinks are refreshing and innovative, they too are skimpier versions of the real thing. Margaritas are served in ice cream sundae glasses(not margarita glasses) so as to give the illusion of a big drink. This city is filled with excellent, authentic taquerias, many of whom serve it up 24 hrs. Don't waste your money at de cero(which translates to 'of nothing' in Spanish) How appropriate.

Loved the restaurant. The atmosphere, and the food were excellent. Fresh ingredients, reasonable prices, and an interesting menu.
