This place is alright, but it is in a heavy crime area. My bike was parked in front of the enterance on a busy Friday night, and I came out to find my wheels stripped off of my bike. If you come to Happy Village, take a cab, mace, and watch your back. Nice of the hipsters there to say something while someone took a wrench to my locked up bike . . . .

This place may look nice on first glance but it was truly gross. My date and I counted at least three rats running around the beer garden. Not passing through. Running around. Yuck. This was at 8:30 in the evening. Don't waste your precious summer beer garden time sitting in that rat trap.

customers are friendly the atmosphere is relaxing .there are 2 ping pong tables 1 table very bad lighting can't even see the ball the other table is nice but there still is some glare but playable most of the players are friendly except me who is very cocky, but still nice. The mix drinks are $5.00 which a ridiculously high. beers are $2.50 which is ok, the female bartender is very friendy which is good and bad because she talk so much to the customers that other customers have to wait intill she is done small talking tobuy a drink. over all I would reccmmend the place if you like to play ping pong

Happy Village is an excellent hole-in-the-wall type of bar. You feel rather like you're in a friend's basement. The furnishings are just like the people--unpretentious. I've been there three times now and had a blast every time. It's the kind of place where you make a new friend every time you visit. The bartenders are friendly and attentive. I've never been in the summer, but I've heard the beer garden is exceptional, so I'll definitely be back once the warmer weather arrives.

I've been in there three time and I'll never go back. The bartender was drunk and many of my songs on the jukebox were skipped because she didn't like them. The bar is fine, the staff is rude and times I was the husband and wife bartending team were drinking more than the customers. Horrible place to spend my money.

Nice clean place to relax and hang out! The beer garden is beautiful, and the drinks are cheap! And...mmm...mmm...they have sliders to go with the beer and the pizza.

The Happy Village is a wonderful dive bar just off of Division, in the East (Ukrainian) Village area. Regular bartenders (and husband and wife) Katy and Louie are really nice. Louie's always up for a game of chess or a metaphysical discussion, and you have to be a real lout to get the "you gotta go" from Katy. The crowd usually arrives between 11 and 12, and breaks off into bar and table people. Some of Louie's jazz (he plays sax) friends stop by from time to time.
New regulars with common names get assigned a handle to aid identification. There's FishBowl Paul, Cowboy Dave, Texas John...you get the idea.
You'll also see neighborhood regulars, and Shirlene (the owner) even makes an appearance daily, usually buying a round. Beers are cheap, food (new pizza oven!) and package goods are available.
And as if that weren't enough, guys can experience one of the largest urinals this side of the Chicago river.
I highly recommend the Happy Village for those looking for a relaxed, unpretentious, hang.
