This is one of my favorite staples of the Rush/Division area. The food is typical bar fare, but homemade and delicious (in my humble opinion, the best reuben in the city!). The service is a welcom change from the nonexistent or nonchalant presence at other bars on the street. After drinking the draft beer served in frosty mugs, I can't bear to drink it anywhere else. It does get a little too packed on the weekends, so I try to steer clear then, but it's cozy and quiet the rest of the time. A good spot to escape the snobby neighborhood or loud clubs that surround it.

Cozy and comfortable! Everyone is Irish there!

This is one of the circles of hell. After paying the $7 cover, I stayed all of five minutes before my friends and I decided that little things like being able to hear each other, order drinks, and breathe were important to us. We ended up sneaking out of a back exit for employees because it was too crowded to go back to the front door. This is a good place to go if you're a recovering alcoholic because it takes 10 minutes to order a drink (lots of time to reconsider) and there are hundreds of examples around you why you shouldn't drink. Yikes.

Unfortunately, this is one of those landmark bars that will never go away. But if you want poor service and rude treatment...then this is your place. The bartenders seem to forget they are in a service industry and for whatever reason, (maybe it's the bar itself that seperates the bartenders from the patrons)they think this may give them reason to treat paying customers poorly. I mean very poorly. Even the doormen are mean. I'd never go back. Even if I was paid to!
