Ken S, if you can't stomp wit the big dogs then stay on the porch! If you're griping over $3 for soda then Goldcoast is no place for you to have a great dining experience. With that said onto the review. I love Lux Bar!!! The ambience is great, the food is reasonably priced, great appetizers, drinks are awesome and the desserts delectable. I always meet the most interesting folks at this joint. See it to believe it.

With great anticipation I made the trip to mecca to see if the Lux Bar really lived up to it's description. I was overwhelmed by the extreme loudness echoing throughout the entire restaurant from the moment I walked through the revolving door. I couldn't help but smirk at the 'ice cream parlor' style decor with an opulent brass railing leading up the stairs that didn't seem to blend in with the Frank Lloyd Wright inspired wood designs nor the ice cream parlor. How about some originality with the table coverings - these are the same ones from the sister restaurants for heaven's sake! The service was decent I will admit, but the miniscule drink portions at almost $10 a pop is insulting for what is termed a 'neighborhood' joint. That isn't very neighborly. The food was so-so and a tad bit pricey for the ordinary quality. Overall I would say the $14 million dollars they invested to open Lux Bar could have been better spent. The only thing they have going for them is location. Lux will loose it's luster quickly.

Fantastic-
The service was excellent and the food even better. The last review was right on however when it comes to ordering water and soda. I wouldn't refill your coke either. Get a set and have a drink.

New Addition to Gold Coast Needs Major Overhaul!! Mediocre service, food was even worse:
When I first arrived, one of the owner/hosts came over to my table, greeted me and offered to get my drink order. I stated that I was waiting for my date, but a glass of water would be nice in the meantime. He asked again if I wouldn't like a cocktail. I said just a water please...the water never came. My date and I both ordered sodas with our meals. After our glasses sat empty for 45 minutes we were finally offered re-fills. We declined the opportunity to pay another $3 for an 8 oz. bottle of soda. As for our meals...I asked for my steak medium..it came out raw, literally. I sent it back, it came out at best looking like tartare. Maybe they'll work out the kinks over time. In the meantime, let others be the guinea pigs.
