Selection is unimpressive for a store claiming to deal in "fine and rare" books. Owner/employees can only be described as rude, unhelpful and condescending. One employee (or perhaps it was the owner) refused to serve a friend I was with for the terrible crime of taking exception, politely, to one of the many condescending statements that he made to us. I also overheard a sexist remark about "women and their cell phones" about another customer who was part of a group. Furthermore, when complaining about their customers in German, they should probably also consider the possibility that said customers speak German.

Printers Row Fine and Rare Books' Response to Mr. Giordano's September 2, 2006 Review: Thank you for your compliments regarding our shop. We must, however, correct several misstatements in your review. First, our website, www.printersrowbooks.com, is painted in gold leaf on our front window, and both our website address and our Email address (prinrow715@sbcglobal.net) are readily found in our promotional literature as well as on the internet. Second, visitors to Abebooks.com and Biblio.com can even link directly to our website. Third, while both Abebooks.com and Biblio.com do indeed charge commissions, these commissions are paid by us, not by the buyer.

I have visited this very nice bookshop on occasion of a fair and I'm now surprised by the fact that they neither have a website nor even an email address. It seems to me that the only way for reaching them over the Internet is through the ABE and BIBLIO organisations that inflate books prices by taking commissions in the range of 15% ..... They should be made aware that attentive books buyers do not accept the imposition of such a business practice and do not buy antique books without a direct contact and a negotiation. Antique books are not supermarket items to take from a shelf at fixed prices including huge commissions. Giovanni A. Giordano
