Anyone who had a Polish grandma who had a kitchen will adore this place (depending on how you felt about your grandma).
The zurek--sometimes erroneously called "white borscht"--is the best I've ever had, including in Poland. The pierogi are fantastic as well, as is everything else on the menu.
There's a bar/liquor store on the same side of Division, just west of the post office, where you'll want to stop first for a six-pack of Zywiec, since you never can have too many carbs.
Smacznego!

There's really just one problem with eating at this dive:
After snarfing down all that great food, when the check arrives, it's so low, you feel GUILTY.
Hell, at some perfectly normal restaurants, your tax and tip are higher than the whole bill at Podhalanka!
And what kinda place has 14 (!) soups on? I mean, what? How can they do that?
If you wanna eat hearty, and aren't afraid of a place with a little character, try it.
