Way way way overpriced...very limited selection...and less than the quality of product you would expect for the price. But then, what do you expect from the people who brought you M&M's...yes, it's owned by Mars. There are way too many good, REAL chocolate hangouts to choose from...save your time, and appetite, for another place!

We recieve Ethel's Cocktail Chocolates for a Christmas gift at work and WOW, what a treat.

The Etheltini was maginficant and the Margarita tasted like a tropical drink from the Islands.

    What a treat!

I love chocolate. This stuff is nothing special, and is rather expensive. It looks nice, and the store is very comfortable, but the truffles are mediocre. If you're going to gain weight and spend money, do it elsewhere. Dove is better for straight chocolate if you're on a budget, you can't go wrong with Godiva; even Sees or Rocky Mountain have Ethel's beat.

I cherish and adore chocolate. With the exception of white, I love the sensual delight of milk and dark, of praline and truffle, of, oh, just about any true chocolate sensation. So on my first visit to Ethel's, I expected an orgasmic experience. Hah! Not so. We bought a box of 24 assorted. The overwhelming taste was of oil and sugar, the fragrance? Absent. The crisp snap of fresh chocolate breaking? Insignificant. This is not chocolate; or at least not chocolate worth savouring. This stuff should be sold in the candy aisle of your grocery store. Save your money - and your taste buds.

I LOVE Ethel's Chocolate Lounge!!! Two friends and I got the chocolate fondue to share and an employee overheard me say that we needed champagne. Next thing we new, we had 3 chocolate champagne truffles on our table. Talk about great customer service. I felt like a queen! Everything was fabulous and I will absolutely be going back my next trip to Chicago.

The nice sounding "Ethel's" is really Mars / M&M's in disguise! Don't be fooled by the trendy look of the place, the chocolate is probably made in the same factory as M&M's are...

Ethel's is a nice setting, but the prices are ridiculous. I just paid $6 for four chocolates the size of a quarter. Are they really that much better than Fannie May, Kilwins, Marshall Fields or heaven forbid Stovers? It's sugar people -- come on!

What a wonderful way to spend Father's Day eating Choclates and sipping coffee. The chocolates are out of this world. I wish they would open one up in Hinsdale. We need one closer!!!!

Ethel, Haven't I seen this somewhere before??? Ethel's Chocolate lounge sounds suspiciously like the famous New York candy store for grown-ups CHOCOLATE BAR. Nice wrapper but I've tasted it before....

Winner of the 2004 Timeout New York Eat Award for “Best Chocolate Store”, Chocolate Bar is a candy store for grown-ups offering cosmopolitan luxury through old-fashioned collections and unique inspirations. Incorporating style, comfort and classic New York treats, Chocolate Bar features sweets by New York's Jacques Torres, Sweet Bliss and Garrison Confections along with a signature line of nostalgia-influenced chocolate bars. The boutique's dazzling menu includes authentic New York Egg Creams, coffee by illy Caffe, fine teas by Serendipitea, four kinds of iced and hot chocolates and pastries by the City's best bakers. Decadent confections are available for everything including truffles, chocolate bars, hot chocolate, tea and more. Chocolate Bar is located at 48 Eighth Avenue between Jane and Horatio streets in New York's West Village and since the store's opening in May, 2002, the concept has become extremely popular with sweet lovers of all ages. Created, designed and operated by Alison Nelson. For more information please visit www.chocolatebarnyc.com
