The guy above me def doesn't know what he is talking about. He may of had a bad experience there but generally Allende is an amazing, cheap, fast mexican resteraunt. The is a reason they are not gonig out of business even in this economic state of crisis. The fact of the matter is you will not get better anywhere for the price. Everything is fresh and freshly made. The salsa is very good but I agree it's nothing to special. I make a point to eat there at least twice a week and so should you!

Don't let one bad review keep you from trying a new place.

I had read a review of this restaurant that praised it as having the best salsa ever and gave it great reviews overall. So I decided to try it. I regret having done so. First of all, the salsa tasted no better than the kind you can get in a jar at the supermarket. Secondly, half the plate was full of iceberg lettuce, topped by a slice of tomato, and two slices of avocado. Iceberg lettuce needs something to give it flavor. The rice was completely forgettable. The beans were ok. The enchiladas I got were dry and boring. It was edible, but not memorable or even something I would want to eat again.

But what is worse is that now it is 2 AM, and I can't sleep because of the feeling the food left in me. As soon as I walked out of the restaurant, it was as if my abdomen was bound up in a knot. Now my stomach is rumbling like crazy and keeping me awake. It is completely unacceptable for a restaurant to leave one with such a feeling.

A lot of people seem to recommend this resetaurant for a meal after drinking at bars in the neighborhood. I'm beginning to understand why they like it, they are too drunk to notice it is bad. Top that off with the fact that Midwesterners have a tendency to recommend Mexican restaurants that serve tasteless food (I'm originally from California, and these places would never stay in business there), and I can totally understand why everyone is raving about this dud of a restaurant.
