Played the Starboard course on an absolutely perfect day. The other course was closed for maintenance so even though it was a Tuesday they were pretty busy.
Overall the course was well maintained and the views were great, but there were a few misses that make me give a B grade instead of an A. ...a lot of these are nits, but at $80 a weekday round I think golfers are entitled to the best.
1. the sand stunk..inconsistent from hard packed to gravel in some cases and there is a LOT of sand. 2. little use of the surrounding water. I think water came into play on only 1 hole! ALso speaking of water...I didn't see any water coolers on the course at all 3. over zealous rangers...stressing their 15 minute per hole policy, we were told to speed it up on the 11th hole, even though we had to wait a few minutes on every tee box for the group ahead of us to get far enough away! 4. No ball washers on the course but on the cart...nice, but ours was positioned under the sand/grass seed container and it was impossible to lift the handle of the ball washer up high enough to use 5.Greens were fast and recently mowed, but the fine grass clippings were on every green.
Again most of these are nit picks, and I found this to be one of the better courses in the area and the views were really great...but for my money I'll take a Cog Hill or Big Run any day.
