I liked this place a lot. The sope was tasy, the cheese was amazingly fresh and the salsa was actually spicy! I wasn't blown away with the tacos but the rest of what we orded was great. Both salsa roja and verde tasted authentic and freshly made- and the corn torilla had that "fresh out of the over" taste. Service was good too. Definitely going back for more!

I really wanted to like this place but was really disappointed. The food was cold and the empanadas had no flavor. The chips were incredibly stale. it took an hour to be seated and then the waitstaff hovered over. I will give it another shot though as other people have said otherwise.

I've been meaning to go to this place for awhile - it looks so cozy and inviting from the street - and recently found myself hungry and nearby. I was not disappointed. I ended up dining alone, but felt very comfortable. The servive was friendly, quick and unobtrusive. The menu is extensive and the food was very fresh. I had some seasoned beef in a volcanic stone bowl with cheese, grilled peppers and green onions. This came with a little bowl of fresh limes which I squeeze over everthing and some fresh warm corn tortillas. There was a poster on the wall advertising that they had won some "best margarita" award and I have to concur that the margarita's were very good. They came in a large heavy glass goblet, no skimping here. In all I left very satisfied with my meal, a little tipsy from the margarita and with with a strong urge to return soon. Almost forgot to mention - it was also incredibly reasonable! My $7 margarita was half the bill!

Wonderful. I have been going to MAIZ since it was over on the southside on Roosevelt. The food is wonderful and the owners are there to talk with you about what you are eating. The meals are presented to you in such a way that you are almost ashamed to eat such a beautiful meal. Then you take your first bite and the next thought is what you will have when you come back tomorrow!!! The specialty is the tamale, but not like you expect. Be amazed by the flavor... Take friends and go back, you will not be disappointed.
