Apparently they have a new baker/cake decorator since some of these reviews were written. I have visited Sensational Bites several times recently and have enjoyed every item -- from pie, to cupcakes, to cookies, to cake. I recently had my wedding cake made at Sensational Bites and it was, unanimously according to my guests, delicious and beautiful. It was made to my exact specifications and yet turned out better than expected!

One year ago I would have said this was one of the best bakeries in Chicago. I fell in love with their cupcakes because they were the tastiest and the best decorated I had ever seen. However after visiting this store several times in the last few months I must say things are slipping in terms of rude service and cupcakes that are now only half the size of when they opened.

Honestly, this place is just OK. I find their cake too wet and their frosting cloyingly sweet and otherwise tasteless. Tastes just like s sheet cake with Crisco frosting from Jewel. A friend ordered a tray of stuff from Sensational Bites for a special occasion, it it looked kind of like it was put together/decorated by a class of 3rd graders. In fairness, most of the items here are perfectly tasty for a grab-and-go snack, but nothing pretty or special enough to bring home. If you're looking for something really special and unique, go to a 'real' pastry shop like the one a block south on the very same street, the one on Belmont or to the one on Clybourn near Webster Place.

Love Sensational Bites! Ordered a cake for my Father's Birthday and it was a hit! He is a chocolate lover and this was truly his dream...chocolate cake with chocolate fudge buttercream and chocolate ganache!! It was rich and delicious and such a great price. I am ordering another cake today for my Mother-In-Law's Birthday.

It is probably one of the trendiest niches for dessert. It is reasonably priced and the buttercream has an excellent richness and the desserts are well-crafted. And carrot cake and eclairs...divine. It's on its way to the top!

Be sure to order their cupcakes for a party. They are delicious, beautiful and very reasonably priced. The frosting on the top is designed like a flower. I ordered them for a bridal shower and they were the hit of the party!

This place is a cake lover's dream! Great big hunks of cake, reasonably priced, sweet and decadant. See a film at the Music Box, then trot up the street for an unbelievable dessert!

The decor was very nice, but the "sweets" did not live up to my expectations. Overall, I am sorry to say I was disappointed.
