I agree with the previous comment that coming early is a good idea. But not because of the info booth hours. Maps are available on the website www.chicagoartsdistrict.org for the event. The reason to come early is that there are more than 30 galleries in a 4 block radius - you almost can't see it all in one night! It doesn't take much to find your way around. All of the galleries are on S Halsted and 18th streets. You pretty much go door to door. All the galleries are great. The "opportunity" can be found around every corner where you can see tons of emerging art talent in a relaxed atmosphere. This is much better than some other art events where you feel a bit "out of your element."

I have gone to a few 2nd Fridays, but the info center on the corner (which is where you get the maps) seems to close much earlier than the end of the event so make sure you go EARLY if you want to know where everything is. The other reviews are quite generous... don't get me wrong, I loved looking at the art, I just didn't get how this night is supposed to be such an opportunity.

The second fridays are always a wonderful time. This is an incredibly vibrant arts community and a great place to find emerging talent. Plus, as far as art scenes go, everyone is exceptionally friendly.

Have been to the Art District several times. Second Fridays are always enjoyable; interesting art as well as personalities. Look forward to a return visit, a night of expression...............

I love going to the Arts District every second Friday. The gallery doors open to the public, the wine flows and so does the networking. There's often live music and always new people worth meeting. My friends and I make it an event, although it is also a great place to take a date. You won't stop discussing the art installations. Come even when it's cold outside. Inside, the art is hot!
