Calvin's BBQ has good food. Plain and simple. The atmosphere is sub par, the place is in need of some rennovation adjustments. The service was pretty good, but not great. But, the most important part of a restaurant is what you eat, so I give this place a big thumbs up for the food. (I would just get delivery or takeout next time).

I also don't know what that Tiffany girl is talking about. I've been to a majority of the bbq places in the city and Calvins is topnotch. The place is small and cozy. It's BYOB. The service is decent. One waitress does all the in house orders and answers phones for take out/delivery not to mention has to put it all together. It can get kinda crazy in there sometimes. I don't go for the service though-I go for the food. The pulled pork is incredible. The sauce isn't too sweet or too vinegary. The portions are enormous. If it's your first time going I suggest sharing the create your own platter with some friends. That way you get to try a few of their different meats. Mmmmmm-meat.

Calvin's is simply the best BBQ since N&N Smokehouse closed. The prices are right on also. The only thing I can agree with Tiffany on is the Sweet Potato fries, the rest she must have been tripping or dreaming. Give it a try!!!!!!

Calvin's is awesome. Everyone I know who has been there, including myself, think the ribs, pulled pork, and turkey burgers are as good as they come in Chicago. The only other BBQ place in the city that compares is Fat Willy's.

YUCK CITY! This place is HORRIFIC in all manners! 1.) Service was terrible. They ignored our order for 40 minutes, then slopped together in five minutes (the place was DEAD!). 2.) THE SAUCE IS GROSS! Gloppy and bright orange and tasted like a High School cafeteria BBQ sauce (no spice whatsoever). 3.) The price is WRONG! Turkey was fatty and too thickly sliced, only two pieces on a sesame seed bun that came straight from McDonald's. 4.) Sweet Potato fries (which we carried out and drove home only 5 minutes later) were slimy and limp. For some REAL BBQ make the truck out to the Texan in Algonquin!

Calvin's BBQ is w/in walking distance from my house, and all I can say is "THANK GOD". Now, that i've tried it i just want to eat there ALL THE TIME. This is arguably the best food I've had in Chicago, EVER!!!! The prices are reasonable, portions are huge, and everything is perfect and delicious. Everyone needs to check this place out, support a local restaurant and treat your tastebuds!!!!
