Sad to see that this Charlie's is no different in service than Denver's, which is notorious for lousy service and attitude by the truckload from the staff.
This place was exactly the same. I don't know where bartenders learn to act like this, but after buying round upon round of shots and drinks, and tipping $5-$8 a round, you think the bartender even bothered to introduce himself? NO.
The worst of the stand and model bars, and I'm guessing almost solely the reason that Halsted bars are thought to be so snotty. Won't ever spend another dime there.

I've always really liked the music they play, the DJs are excellent. The guy patrons are pretty cool to you if you're minding your business and not being drunkenly obnoxious. But KNOW that this a guy bar. Sometimes you'll get shoved around on purpose because your a girl also the owners actively discourage women from being there. There is no woman's bathroom, the closest thing they have is a stall with no door. Also KNOW that if you go on a Saturday you will $20 and the guys in your party will pay $5 because the owners don't want women there, whether you are gay or straight. You're a girl it DOESN'T matter. SO much for community.

Charlie's is a lot of fun, but it gets really crowded, and expect to wait in a long line to get in after 2 am. Although the crowd is pretty young, you don't get the attitude and posers you find at some of the other gay bars. If enjoy a big party, this is the place to go.

i must say i love charlies they treat you with respect and if you dnt show respect to the regulars your booted out, the only ones who are disrespectful are the people that come after hours who are drugged up, drunk to the nines. and cannot comtrol themselves literally, be warned as a regular if the music is still country music.

I thought y'all said this was a country bar (at least till 2:30) I was there for an hour and a half on thursday night and there was no George, Tammy, Tim, Big OR Rich. Only the same relentless, throbbing, technocrap that could be heard in any other twink infested neon rat-hole in Boystown. I mean really, there are 17 gay bars in a two block span couldn't just one of them have a little character.

Just had my first visit to boys town on friday and was shocked at how much fun i had! Charlies, by far wast the most fun of all the bars we stopped at. I highly recommend it and will be back!

Went to the charlies for the first time and I must say that I will never go back. They have the rudest people I have ever seen in any club. Never going back there.
