Taking our friend for her 65th birthday turned out to be a gift for all of us! We have wanted to try Koda since it opened, but one thing or another always interfered, so we made a promise to take our dear pal on the 7th of June; we were a party of 5, and none of us were disappointed in our fare, service, ambience or price! It shall become one of our special occasion places, and we have already recommended it to numerous friends! Please, let's keep a wonderful, classy place alive & kicking on the Southside!!!

Portion size comment: I have read previous reviews on portion size for Koda. Most people are complaining saying that they are too small. Maybe that is because they don't realize what a "real per person" portion should be. For someone who is always watching what she eats. The portions are perfect. This is a "real portion" I am glad I don't feel forced to over eat.

my party and i dined at koda's on 9/9/06. we all ordered the short rib dinner. the food was very tasty and the meat was so tender it just melts in your mouth. the sauce was a little sweet but still delicious. the service was very professional and efficent. our server was mike. the restaurant over all was very clean. my only complain was the serving size of the meals. i felt as though the portion of the dinner could have been a somewhat bigger. the deserts were also deliciois. the chocolate mouse did serve two people. my overall experience at the restaurant was pleasing and i shall return. thank you, dolores jackson

Koda is a refreshing change to the South Side. Finally! Appealing menu, great service, nice atmoshpere and delicious food. Give your southside jeans and t-shirt a needed rest, sport your "smart casual" and enjoy a great evening of actual fine dining in Beverly. Once you try it, you are sure to be back.

I was not wowed by Koda as others seem to be. May be we picked the wrong entrees and appetizers, but the food was just okay. I found the mussels very bland - mussels in chopped tomatoes with red pepper about the only seasoning I could taste. The chicken was pretty tasteless as well. The tenderloin was good, but nothing special and the sauces offered were blah. The onion soup was lukewarm and was okay, again nothing special. Pommes frites should be replaced with some other choice. I did like the wine selections.

We just spent the evening dining at the sensational Koda Bistro on Western. Every dish was absolutely delicious. I cannot decide if the escargots or skate wing tasted better. Of course, my neighboring partners were boasting that their Short Ribs and Lamb couldn't be topped! I guess I'll have to go back and sample the rest of the menu. Believe me, it's a breath of fresh air to the beautiful Southside.

I live on the southwest side... a place formerly bereft of anything higher brow than pizza and beer. I had to stay downtown or venture north after work in order to satisfy my palette. But now there's Koda! A diverse menu, a diverse wine list with wines by the glass that are unavailable anywhere else, and a location that should be a destination for any one who loves food and atmosphere.
