The pole is what made me come here and it is not a real pole. Its on spinners, meaning it is easy to get up there and spin around but if you are actually looking to work a REAL pole, I've seen one at Funk...at rush and state? That is an unmoving STANDARD pole that is a lot safer and user-friendly.

i was in last week for a party and we had an absolute blast. if your looking to host a small get together, this is the place to have it. what's better that a private room with a stripper pole, need i say more. good food, good drinks, good music. good times.

if you are looking for a good time on a sunday, this is the place to go. great drinks, music, and the food was a pleasant surprise. most bar food is pretty standard, but five star's food is way above standard. the service is awesome, will stop in very soon.

Hey u guys, this bar is the answer for all young professionals who hate rush/lincoln yuppie death bars, but don't care to spend time sitting in bars that smell like last night's urine.
5StarBar is really just an upscale, dive bar. i like liars club and delilahs, too, but don't exactly fit the image (which doesn't bother me but seems like it does to others)
if you're looking for fast table service, during the week is the best time to go. yeah, drinks are a little on the high side, but there's a reason...and if ya don't know the reason - ya don't need to be comin' to this bar.
i don't know...maybe it's because the owners make friends with just about everyone that comes in more than once, or the barkeeps remind me of new york, but it's something different & familiar - a nice combination.

p.s. i hit send too soon and didnt edit first, sounds a little cooky in bits

I was looking forward to the opening of a borboun bar in my neighborhood, but I have to say I am going to steer towards the negative in this review. The owner of the place is a nice guy, sit down and ahve a beer with the people that look like their in the mood to chat. But the service their really kind of blows. I like looking at them, but given the original intent of actually serving me they dont "serve" much purpose (ha). Food is great, Bourbon selection great, dig the decor. Just wish it wasnt in East Village, we dont need any more of the influx of yuppies gone urban-ish.

Decent burgers, good pork sandwich, good chicken sandwich, and excellent fries. Also, a wide beer selection. A nice addition to rapidly improving stretch of Chicago Ave.

An unwelcome addition to a great neighborhood, 5 star barely merits one star in terms of a good time. bartenders were rude and sloppy; obviously hired on their looks and not on their skill level. drinks were WAY over priced and the generic rock and roll music sounded muted on the cheap sound system. very cheesy decor and the crowd looked transplanted from rush street/lincoln park. a giant disapointment. wanna have a good time? stick with the heavies-cobra,delilahs and liars. theres no room for a place like this in this neighborhood
