The food is very good.
The service is V_E_R_Y S_L_O_W. Do NOT go here if you are in a hurry. Do NOT go here if you're impatient.
My wife and I waited 40 minutes for our food ... and that followed a 20-minute wait for our wine.
Half the tables inside were empty, and one of the tables outside was empty. They weren't swamped by a huge volume of customers.
We weren't the only ones either. Every table outside (where we were sitting) was commenting or joking about the long wait and the misplaced orders. They even were slow to bring the check to some tables (but not ours).
It seems they just don't have enough kitchen and wait staff, so they get overwhelmed easily.

The sad part about this place is that the sushi is good...however the amount of effort required to get it is UNBELIEVABLE. This is by far the worst service I've had in the entire city, in any industry. I've waited for shorter periods of time (and had better customer service) at the DMV. Please skip this place. There are far too many good sushi bars in Chicago to give Aki your hard earned cash.

Aki Sushi is my favorite sushi spot in town, hands down. The atmosphere is extremely kind and chill, the food is fantastic and always features innovative seasonal specials, and the service is the friendliest you'll find. Co-owners Paul and Jennifer Byun go out of their way to make your dining experience one-of-a-kind. As chef and hostess they will always welcome you graciously, stuff you with the finest in sushi fare and special drinks (i recommend the cold sake!), and bid you farewell as a customer and friend. Bring all your friends for a warm and spirited social rendezvous, or come with a parent or close friend or lover for a cozy, calm evening; always you will leave satisfied and planning the date of your next return!

Aki Sushi is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. The owners are wonderful, the food is great and everything is reasonably priced--this all coming from a girl who "doesn't like fish!" :)

Just came back from there, and it was fantastic! I think i've been to every sushi place in wicker park - and chicago in general - and this was one of the best! for vegetarian maki lovers, this was definitely the best in terms of selection, b/c they allow a mix and match option. i also had a tuna maki roll, and it was quite good as well. the price was also low, relative to chicago sushi restaurants.
