Poplar Creek Country Club is a great facility for a wedding. I attended a wedding there this past fall and everything was beautiful.

What a terrible course. The course superintendent should be fired. The golf course is in the worst condition of any course in the area. Not since the days of a "Golden Acres" has a course been so lousy. They are discounting the fee for the non resident because conditions are so bad, however no discount for the tax paying resident. They said we already get a discount, sure we do, for a course that is suppose to be in good shape. However since most of the greens are dead and have been out of play, they can justify giving the non resident a discount but not the tax paying resident who is paying the freight. I guess the brain child of that operation has not figured out who they need to be taking care of in the long run. Fire the superintendent, fire the GM, and get someone in there that knows what the heck they are doing... Call Hilldale or Schaumburg Golf to find out how to run a real golf course.

Played this course on a hot July afternoon. I found the pace of play to be excruciatingly slow, owing mostly to a foursome several groups ahead of us. Frequent visits from the course marshal did nothing to speed them, and our round took almost five hours. The greens were in fantastic shape, and were probably the highlight of our experience. The GPS is handy, but I would have preferred to score our round using a traditional scorecard. (My mistake for not getting one from the clubhouse... there aren't any scorecards waiting for you on the #1 or #2 tees...)

I found the "target golf" layout to be a little annoying, however... I have never used a four iron to tee off on so many par 4's in my entire life. The course doesn't offer much in the way of risk / reward tee shots, and seems to invoke its will upon the golfer.

For the right internet discount, I'll be back, but not before looking carefully over other options.

They renovated their bunkers and they look great. I played there this fall for a discount which they ran most of the fall. I joined there e-mail club on the web site to get 2 for 1 coupons.

Cource service was awful, no discount during cource maintenace (most of the area was in maintenance or construction even bulldozer was sitting near to Green who can you paly with that!!) and there were not nay notice. Compared to it's fee I will not reccomend this cource to anyone. I will never go back unless they change thir policy.
