In a truly inspired move, husband-and-wife training team Todd and Elana Morgan Bartelstein founded Of Mutts and Men. Occupying a huge Roscoe Village storefront, this indoor dog park is a place for pooches and their humans to chill. The main ring is prime territory for practicing all of those lessons from obedience school, but the dogs are just as happy to lounge by one of the two free pool tables or watch a chess game in progress. Making dog-time fun-time for all parties involved, Of Mutts and Men boasts plenty of comfy couches, free coffee and a place to watch television while your dog makes new friends; the owners are happy to stay open late for Monday-night football.
Daily admission is $3 per person and $3 per dog, monthly membership is $40 and the whole year runs $425. Multiple dog discounts are available. Of Mutts and Men offers seminars on a range of subjects including protection training, canine homeopathy and nutrition. Professional trainers and behaviorists are available for private consultations and canine CPR certification courses.
