La Baguette Bakery now has 11 locations throughout Chicagoland, but it all started at this small location in Little Village, which itself has expanded over the years to include a thriving wholesale business and even a restaurant. The original site is a pristine showroom for its cakes, breads and pastries, all on display in bright cases in front of the busy kitchen where the magic happens. Baked-to order cakes come in all sizes for carry out, but you'll likely leave with more than just one thing. Few can resist the temptation of La Baguette’s tiramisus, single-serving tarts and cookies.
La Baguette also offers a variety of standard cantina/taqueria fare for customers looking for a quick nosh while waiting for their quincenera cakes to finish. Tacos cost $1.50 each and come with your choice of filling, from cecina (dried beef) to tripe. Served on your choice of flour or corn tortilla, a couple of these go a long way. You can also order a Hawaiian-style torta, packed with ham, pineapple and melted cheese. Mexican-style breakfasts, quesadillas, and other fast food staples round out the menu.
