Tucked in the historic Edgewater Beach apartment building, Anna Held's marble soda fountain retains a classic charm, and rightly so. Opened in 1927, the shop still bears the original owner's name, as well as its original commitment to dishing up tasty ice cream sundaes, malts and sodas. While some modern furnishings have entered the scene, the counter seating still allows you to split a milkshake with your main squeeze, '50s-style. In addition to ice cream, you can satisfy your sweet tooth with homemade cakes (such as an in-demand carrot cake, German chocolate, and lemon bundt), cookies, brownies, and scones, along with coffee and espresso beverages.
Currently owned by a graduate of the Art Institute, Anna Held's combines a tasty tradition with a floral one. A team of artistic designers makes exceptional bouquets that grace many Chicago weddings.
