Walking into this Thai restaurant, you will immediately feel appreciated, if not by the friendly staff, then by the humble-looking, faux-wood frog statue with the word "welcome" on it that greets guests.
Candles at every table make for a cozy atmosphere. The place is far from dim, though; the reddish-orange walls make Bangkok Village appear vibrant. Crystal chandeliers hang from the ceilings and add a touch of elegance to the dining room. Traditional Thai silk tablecloths adorn each table and simple place settings create a pristine and sharp look. An intricate bamboo display is the final touch of Thai authenticity.
Bangkok Village offers a smorgasbord of different Thai dishes. Soups like seafood lemongrass (served with lime and peppers) are reasonably priced at a little under five bucks, while salads like the Northeastern (ground chicken, spiced chili pepper, shallots, green onion and lime juice) go for $8-$9. Order some classic Thai favorites like jungle curry (sliced meat, Thai curry paste, bamboo shoots, sweet pepper, onion and fresh basil leaves) or oyster beef (beef in oyster and sherry sauce) for under $10.
This restaurant has several dishes to satisfy its vegetarian diners as well. Ginger, broccoli and cashew tofu are cooked up and mixed vegetable dishes round out the rest of the vegetarian menu. Lunch specials include salad, soup and an appetizer for $6.99.
