Tucked away in a shabby corner of Chinatown Square, this small, inexpensive restaurant boasts a swine-heavy menu of over 500 items, including both traditional Chinese cuisine and a few Americanized options.
Order the soup of the day (bowls only, no cups) and it might be simply pork soup, consisting of stock, pork and a few carrots. Expect most dishes to be accented with a hint of barbeque sauce, including the sweet and sour chicken, which is good, but certainly sweeter than usual. The Double Happiness of squid with peapods stands out among the authentic entrees.
BBQ King House will run you between $4.50 and $12.95 per person, with platters available at $30 tops. The space is narrow, and seating is limited to a few round tables with Lazy Susans and several smaller tables along one wall, perfect for quick, easy dinners.
