Each month of 2002, the Mexican eatery featured a burrito recipe concocted by a famous Chicago chef. Burrito Beach donates a portion of proceeds earned via these featured burrito sales to the Chicago Food Depository. Centerstage hopes this cause marketing campaign continues.
The last burrito featured was Jimmy B's from Heaven on Seven. He whipped up a delicious Baja Chipolte Chicken Burrito with tender, grilled, marinated chicken, black beans, white rice, corn relish that pops in your mouth, vibrant onion-cilantro mix, mozzarella cheese, lettuce, sour cream and chipolte salsa wrapped in a white flour tortilla ($4.79). Yummm...
The spicy Buffalo Chicken burrito is also a winner with quality white meat and the traditional blue cheese accent, among the staple ingredients ($4.59). While the tangy sauce gave it a great kick, it prohibits one from truly eating this one on the run.
A 20's - 40's professional crowd dressed in everything from jeans to suits scarfed down veggie and meat burritos, quesadillas and tacos. There's a cool smoothie selection: try the Carmen Miranda, fresh frozen strawberries, blueberries and banana, pineapple juice and non-fat yogurt. The vibrant yellow walls keep you awake and remind you it's time to get back to work.
Bonus: The management on Lake Street went above and beyond on a customer service request and deserves to be recognized.
