THIS VENUE HAS CLOSED. Not to be confused with the forever-running theatre production "Wicked," this sugary spot features overwhelmingly diverse dessert options that will wow both hardcore sweet tooths and those who only occasionally dabble in treats. Packed full of cakes, cheesecakes, pies, tortes, mousses, tarts, bars, brownies, ice cream, pastries and a few sandwiches, salads and soups, Wicked guarantees everyone will leave satisfied. The lines are sure to be long at a place this pleasing, but don't worry; up to 50 people can lounge in the cushy black leather chairs, wooden chairs and matching black tables while enjoying a dessert.
"We're trying to create an experience destination focused on desserts," says co-owner Rodney Tyson. "We noticed that there aren't that many places in Chicago to get a single serving of dessert—usually you'll end up going to a restaurant or bakery." Of course, the inviting atmosphere here may inspire customers to stay for a second helping. All the desserts are a bit on the pricey side, but they're just so darn decadent that you shouldn't refuse an order. The popular red velvet cake features three layers of red chocolate cake separated by cream cheese icing and topped with Belgian chocolate curls; the Kentucky pie is a mix of chocolate chip cookie and Georgian pecan pie; and the irresistible chocolate brownie comes warmed and topped with Belgian white and milk chocolate curls. Pair that with an under-$2 espresso and you've got yourself a sweet treat—and extra time at the gym tomorrow.
