Take the quickness of fast food and the comfort of a cafe and you've got Camille's. With bright walls, high ceilings and a fresh daisy at every table, this California-inspired chain is a stylish addition to the River North area. When the weather cooperates, dine (and people-watch) alfresco on Camille's sizeable patio.
In true California fashion, Camille's caters to the health-conscious with gourmet salads, wraps, grilled paninis and flatbread pizzas. Cold wraps, at $5.99 a piece, come with tri-colored tortilla chips and fresh salsa; varieties include the chicken Caesar, Sonoma veggie and Bangkok Thai. Or you can heat things up with a grilled hot wrap, all of which are accompanied by a mixed field green salad. My personal favorite is the Michelangelo: grilled chicken breast, red onions, roasted red peppers, mozzarella, black olives, thyme, rosemary and balsamic glaze, wrapped in an herb-garlic tortilla. The fresh fruit smoothies are a perfect mid-workday treat, there's coffee and espresso for those in need of a stronger jolt, and Camille's offers beer, wine and specialty cocktails for after-work drinks.
Save room for Eli's cheesecake, gelato or a cookie (peanut butter is a crowd pleaser), because the desserts here are as irresistible as the free wireless internet. FYI: Camille's caters for groups of 10 or more, and delivery is complimentary for orders over $200.
